If you have an Amazon Prime account, pretty much any movie or show you could ever want is available faster than you can say “One-Click Shipping.” That includes Amazon Originals, and Amazon Originals includes a bunch of great family-friendly programming. These are shows steeped in STEM lessons, magical adventures, and quippy tweens. And for a limited time during the COVID-19 crisis, even viewers without a Prime account can enjoy Amazon's original kids' series for free. From educational cartoons and kid-friendly sitcoms to laugh-out-loud comedies and thrilling adult dramas, there's an entertaining pick for everyone.
Recently we had the flu, and although we tried to keep busy with other means, we watched a loooooooot of TV. I am grateful for it. I was really on the search for quality shows – the best kids and family movies, clean, wholesome, educational, and not a waste of time. Here are my finds! *Not all are free, but as of this writing, they are inexpensive or free. And I can tell ya from experience, there are some days when you are thrilled to pay $3.99 for a quality, clean movie if you are not able to do anything else!

(TV-PG, 3 seasons so far) Available on Amazon Prime and PBS. The Durrells in Corfu Based on a real family, the Durrells in Corfu chronicles the many adventures and misadventures of a British family who move to the tiny Greek island of Corfu. Super quirky and very fun. 22 best TV series to see on Amazon Prime Video. The Boys takes a thrilling and unapologetic step away from the family-friendly genre. See at Amazon Prime. - Where the Red Fern Grows *my kids are 8 and 6 and I opted to wait before we watch this one, but we loved it as kids! Can’t wait to show them.
- Anne of Green Gables, redone.
- Shirley Temper’s The Little Princess.
- Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade *violence and some romance – use discretion
- Davy Crockett – some violence, so older kids best, although my boys were about 8 and 6 and were not bothered.
- Daniel Tiger’s Family Trip (for toddlers, I really do like Daniel Tiger!)

While the technology may be a bit outdated (replace webcasting with YouTube and your kid will catch on instantly), it’s sure to entertain your entire family.

If your kid is into soccer, they’re sure to love The Kicks, a sport-comedy show that revolves around 12-year-old Devin and her transition to a new school and a new soccer team. Written by U.S. Women’s National Team star Alex Morgan, it reinforces lessons like hard work, determination, and perseverance, with a few chuckles thrown in along the way.

This action-packed series centers around tween science genius Anne, her friends, and a group of androids she designed and built from scratch in her laboratory hidden away in her father’s junkyard. Warning: your kid will definitely want to build a robot after seeing just a few episodes.
Spiderwick Chronicles
Based on the best-selling YA fantasy novel series, this is the only film entry in this list. Set in the Spiderwick Estate in New England, the movie revolves around three siblings who discover a field guide to fairies and other magical creatures like goblins, ogres, brownies, boggarts, hobgoblins, and trolls. Fans of Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings will especially enjoy this fantastical adventure.
